CORE TRAINING

The core muscles and inner unit of the trunk need to be strong to maintain and support the skeletal structure as well as keeping it mobile. This includes the Transversus Abdominus, the deepest abdominal muscle, the Internal and External Obliques our postural muscles and trunk rotators and the Multifidus located in the lower back as well as pelvic floor strength.

We spend so much time sat at work and at home our core muscles tend to become weak and imbalanced, our hamstrings and hip flexors tighten, and our gluteals overstretch.

This can result in lower back problems, poor movement and breathing, so upseting our balance and postural alignment.

The abdominals have a multi-layered structure designed to support the trunk and articulate the spine in flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation.

Why strengthen the abdominals?

Improve and maintain alignment.
Prevent back injury.
Improve balance.
Improve movement within the kinetic chain.
Aesthetically pleasing.
Optimise performance/training.
