With obesity effecting large numbers of our population and heart and lung disease at record levels one must question our nutrition, lifestyle and exercise habits.

It is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine and other health and research publications that an individual should exercise 5-7 times a week for 30-60mins duration and at 60-85% heart rate maximum, to make cardiovascular improvements.

A healthy lifestyle must also be maintained alongside healthy and balanced eating.

Instead of consuming vast amounts of simple carbohydrates, sweets, chocolate or crisps which are full of hydrogenated and saturated fats, try to eat 5-7 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

Drink water instead of high concentrated juice and fizzy liquids.

Look on the back of packets to assess saturated fat, sugar kcal, and kj quantities.

It is suggested that women should consume 2000kcal per day and men 2500kcal.

However this is still in line with an active lifestyle and medium to high intensity exercise being undertaken everyday.
